Keeping in line with our organic practices, our honeybees are managed without synthetic treatments. We embrace an integrated pest management system and all natural treatment solutions. Our queens are selected for their ability to fly in fierce wind, forage at lower temperatures and disease resistance. These traits are simply imperative for survival due to the islands little tree cover, heavy prevailing winds from the northwest and need for robust colonies without too much beekeeper intervention. The pristine environment and variable abundance of flowers makes Cape Clear a haven for bees and numerous other pollinators to thrive.
A wide range of nectar and pollen sources provide excellent nutrition for developing hives ensuring proper health and wellbeing. We were pleasantly surprised that our first year of beekeeping yielded a considerable amount of delicious clear golden honey. We are very excited to continue stewarding and learning from these beautiful bees.
Our honey is produced responsibly in small quantities to protect local wild bees from our honey bees.
